The Antrim Historical Society, with help from Post 50, opened a WWI exhibit on Tues. Aug. 8th, complete with music from that era, and donuts from a recipe the Salvation Army used during that period. The Historical Society had uncovered a journal in their archives, filled out in fountain pen, that detailed a list of every person from Antrim that served in the war, with a short biography. They meticulously transcribed it to computer form to preserve it. This inspired them to move forward with the 100th anniversary exhibit of WWI. Legion Post 50 loaned many items for the exhibit, including photo's, original 1919 list of members & Auxiliary members, & a framed list of all post commanders & adjutants, from 1919 to present. They also loaned engraved brass shells, a gas mask & a German Spandau, 7.92 mm., water cooled machine gun, that we think was brought back by one of the original members. It was carefully cleaned & examined to be inoperative, before being loaned out. The display is open through October, & the public is invited. All Post 50 Legion members received a personal invitation to the opening. A real class act !.
